Ecuadorian company, NIRSA, renews its alliance with Air France KLM’s & Sustainable Aviation Fuel Program (SAF)

Ecuador – 04 January 2023.- The Air France KLM group is proud to renew its alliance with NIRSA as a partner
of its SAF Sustainable Aviation Fuel Program. With its contribution to the program, NIRSA will contribute, for the
second consecutive year, to the reduction of CO2 emissions generated by its flights. Through this decision,
NIRSA reiterates its leadership in environmental protection and sustainable development in the food industry in
Ecuador. NIRSA joins the commitment and efforts of Air France and KLM to develop and promote the
commercial use of sustainable fuel that ensures more sustainable air transport.

Marie-Noëlle Landázuri, Manager of Air France and KLM for Ecuador, and Julio Aguirre Román, General Manager of NIRSA, signed the new agreement in recent days, in the city of Guayaquil. By reiterating its support for Air France KLM’s SAF program, NIRSA will contribute to reducing 100% of the CO₂ emissions generated by the trips of its executives on the Amsterdam-Guayaquil route, throughout 2023, to the extent that its financial contribution will be fully used to support the production and use of SAF fuels on Air France and KLM flights.

Carolina Bolaños, SA & CSR Manager of NIRSA stated “This action is aligned with NIRSA’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. By renewing the SAF agreement with Air France and KLM, we reaffirm our commitment to environmental care and resource sustainability since, using sustainable aviation fuel, we minimize the carbon footprint by reducing emissions by up to 75%, compared to traditional fuels. In 2021 we were the first Ecuadorian partner and company of Air France KLM’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel Program (SAF) in the Passenger category. We were proud and satisfied to know that our passage motivated other companies to join this program. We will continue to support these types of initiatives that seek more sustainable operations and reduce the generation of greenhouse gases, largely responsible for climate change that affects the entire planet.”
